PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rakin Schmoe (ranked 24496 p4p, 4811 weight class) and Kid James (ranked 0 p4p, 530 weight class). Schmoe comes to the cage accompanied by Callum Scott - Dancing on My Own. Schmoe has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. Rakin Schmoe had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Rakin Schmoe!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Kid James!
The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Jeff Smith and Josh West.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

James shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than James was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Schmoe is breathing heavily.
An elbow from James crashes against the mat.
James throws a strike aimed at the side of Schmoe's head but Schmoe avoids it well.
Schmoe seems a little lost for a moment, as James dominates the positioning.

James looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Let's hope that James has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

James thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

James decides to take the fight back to the feet.

James closes the distance and clinches up with Schmoe, looking for a takedown. James pushes Schmoe against the cage but Schmoe circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from James is defended easily by Schmoe.
Schmoe half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Schmoe really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

James closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
James landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.

James breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Schmoe tries to keep at a distance but James has taken the fight into the clinch.

James pulls Schmoe into guard.
James lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.


Schmoe is working an open guard so James takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Crunch! James slams his shin into Schmoe's torso.

James pushes Schmoe up against the cage in a clinch.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

James manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
James is controlling Schmoe's posture.

James has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Schmoe has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.

James jumps guard.
James has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
James manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Schmoe manages to get himself to full guard.

James gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from James. Schmoe shrugs it off though.
James should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

James gets in close and instigates a clinch.
James will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Schmoe up against the cage.

James jumps guard and drags Schmoe to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

James scrambles and gets back to his feet.
James throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Schmoe's waist but Schmoe gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing James off to one side.
Rakin Schmoe has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kid James.

James closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Schmoe knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for James on the ground.
James is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Schmoe's shoulder. That is not cool.

James has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

James moves into range and clinches up with Schmoe.

Schmoe has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. James is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - James has eaten all the pies!

James manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
James is pulling down on Schmoe's head to control his posture.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

James pushes Schmoe off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
James has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

James stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Schmoe to get to his feet.

James shoots in looking for a takedown but Schmoe manages to keep the fight standing, pushing James's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Kid James comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well James has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
