PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rafael Da Silva (ranked 25277 p4p, 6703 weight class) and Scully Peterson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Rafael Da Silva!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Scully Peterson!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Roger Salmon and Chris Saunders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Peterson shoots in and bounces Da Silva off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Peterson trying to control the position from guard on top but Da Silva is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Da Silva throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
Da Silva is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Peterson wants to control from the top but Da Silva keeps moving.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Peterson got a little sloppy there for a moment and Da Silva has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Peterson has managed to get both his arms back between Da Silva's legs - danger averted.

Peterson throws a series of punches but Da Silva avoids them all with ease.

Peterson pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Da Silva misses with a head kick.
Da Silva throws a chopping leg kick but Peterson manages to avoid taking any serious damage.

Da Silva tries to sprawl but Peterson drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Peterson is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Da Silva has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Peterson is working away from the top position though.

Well, if Peterson is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Peterson seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Peterson wants to take a breather but Da Silva is having none of it.

Peterson is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Da Silva defends it well.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Da Silva shoots in for a takedown but Peterson shows good takedown defense.
Peterson defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Da Silva.
Da Silva tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Peterson defends well and Da Silva ends up having to push Peterson into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Peterson is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Da Silva is defending well though. Peterson let's go of the attempt for now.
Peterson slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.

Scully Peterson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Da Silva's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Da Silva looks to land a combination but Peterson avoids it well.

Peterson shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Peterson is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Da Silva wants to sweep but no luck.

Peterson stands and steps away. Da Silva gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Da Silva has closed the distance and engaged Peterson in a clinch.
Peterson jumps guard but Da Silva stands there with Peterson around his waist. Peterson gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Rafael Da Silva has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Scully Peterson.

Peterson has Da Silva pressed against the cage, preventing Da Silva from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Peterson jumps guard and drags Da Silva to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Peterson is pulling down on Da Silva's head. It's preventing any offense from Da Silva, at least for the moment.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Peterson is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Da Silva to keep the fight standing.
Da Silva is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Peterson pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Peterson has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Da Silva regains guard immediately.
Peterson wants to stand but Da Silva has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Scully Peterson comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Peterson has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
