Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Michael Johnstone and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sobhraj closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Sobhraj lands in his opponent's guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gaze utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Sobhraj connects with a couple of short punches.

Sobhraj is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Gaze is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Gaze has escaped and now he's on top!


Gaze thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Sobhraj has his foot on Gaze's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Gaze works his way back into a safe position though.
Sobhraj will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Sobhraj bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Gaze's guard.

Gaze has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Sobhraj to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Gaze is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Sobhraj pulls down on the head and he's put Gaze to sleep! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Charles Sobhraj!
A relieved looking Charles Sobhraj thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
