PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jach Bresnar (ranked 4325 p4p, 5325 weight class) and Alak Mouskal (ranked 484 p4p, 528 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jach Bresnar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Alak Mouskal!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Trevor Gratis and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mouskal shoots in looking for a takedown but Bresnar manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Mouskal's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Mouskal shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Bresnar sprawls well. Bresnar wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Mouskal gets slowly back to his feet.
Bresnar half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Alak Mouskal seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mouskal tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Bresnar decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Mouskal's guard.
Bresnar is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Mouskal is trying to control the position but Bresnar postures up.
Mouskal wants to get back to his feet but Bresnar is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Mouskal is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Mouskal wants to stand but Bresnar is controlling the position.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Mouskal tries for a takedown but Bresnar sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Jach Bresnar has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alak Mouskal.
Bresnar leaves Mouskal with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Bresnar appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Bresnar takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

and Bresnar decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Mouskal's guard.

Bresnar content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Mouskal really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Bresnar. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Bresnar takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Mouskal tries to roll over but Bresnar keeps him under control.
Bresnar slows the pace down in half guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Mouskal tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Bresnar swivels and escapes.
Bresnar appears to be looking for a counter takedown.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Bresnar fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Mouskal, pushing him back against the cage.
Bresnar is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.
Mouskal tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Bresnar just stands there and leans against the cage.
Bresnar is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Mouskal can do to turn this around?

Bresnar pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Mouskal looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Bresnar feinted with a counter takedown.

Bresnar lands a right hand that snaps the head of Mouskal backwards.

Bresnar has been working on his balance at Puncher's Chance Collective, so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by Mouskal.

Mouskal is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Bresnar is defending well.

Bresnar closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Mouskal has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Bresnar after a bit of a struggle.

Mouskal is looking to control Bresnar's arms but Bresnar gets an underhook and turns him. Now Mouskal has his back to the cage.
Bresnar doesn't land with the attempted body shot.

Bresnar bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Mouskal's guard.

Bresnar postures up and lands a big shot to Mouskal's brow.
Bresnar is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Mouskal is trying to control but can't.
Mouskal wants to stand back up but Bresnar manages to pass into side control.

Bresnar slips a nice elbow through Mouskal's hands, connecting with Mouskal's forehead.

Bresnar has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Bresnar is keen to just control but Mouskal is a slippery customer.
Jach Bresnar is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Bresnar's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Alak Mouskal has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Bresnar scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Mouskal is looking to get back to his feet here but Bresnar is keeping cool and he's managed to take Mouskal's back.

Well Bresnar has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
