Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Rod De Minaur (ranked 146 p4p, 464 weight class) and Jay Simon (ranked 19 p4p, 64 weight class). De Minaur's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Seek and Destroy . Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Rod De Minaur!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 27 - 9 - 2, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jay Simon!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, James Glass and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Simon moves away from the strike by De Minaur.

Simon shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. De Minaur manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

De Minaur seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Simon checks a leg kick.
Simon tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
De Minaur thows a left - swing and a miss!

and Simon counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for De Minaur!

De Minaur looking for a sweep but Simon has passed into full mount! Oh no!

Simon is working for a guillotine from mount but De Minaur frees his head quite easily.

Simon swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and De Minaur is now in Simon's guard. A big mistake from Simon there, giving up the dominant position!

Simon bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

De Minaur fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Simon manages to avoid it.

Rod De Minaur is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Some bone on bone action there as Simon checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Simon shoots for a double leg takedown but De Minaur sprawls well. He's pushed Simon's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Simon moves in looking to clinch but De Minaur pushes him off.
Simon uses good head movement to avoid the hook from De Minaur.

Simon dives in and grabs De Minaur's left leg, looking for a takedown. De Minaur pushes down on Simon's head and hops out.
De Minaur looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
De Minaur is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Simon can do to turn this around?

Rod De Minaur has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jay Simon.
De Minaur cracks Simon with a right hand to the side of the head.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Simon connects with a looping right hand.
De Minaur's corner calls for a 1-2. De Minaur obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Simon throws a body punch but De Minaur moves out of range.

Simon goes for a double leg but De Minaur avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as De Minaur continues to drive forward.

De Minaur misses with an attempted mid kick.
Simon gets cracked with a nice right hand there by De Minaur.
De Minaur wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
De Minaur throws a body shot but no joy.
Simon drops down looking to force a counter takedown but De Minaur defends it well.
Good work by Simon as he checks the leg kick.
Simon takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Simon will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
A quick step to the side and De Minaur tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.
De Minaur lands with a shot to the body.
De Minaur misses with a straight left.
Simon misses with an uppercut. De Minaur saw that one coming.
Simon has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Simon there as he acknowledges the shot.

De Minaur pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
The fighters circling - Simon throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
De Minaur scores with a leg kick.
A slow jab from De Minaur misses its intended target.
And Simon tries to counter it with a takedown but De Minaur pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Good work by Simon as he checks the leg kick.
De Minaur throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Simon uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by De Minaur.
Simon cracks a nice hook into De Minaur's ribs.
De Minaur looks to score with a jab to the body but Simon is just out of range.
De Minaur misses with a straight left.

And that's the end of the fight!
Rod De Minaur showed his dominance in that final round.
