Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Scully Peterson (ranked 6573 p4p, 5743 weight class) and Brutas Maximus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Brutas Maximus has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Scully Peterson's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Scully Peterson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Brutas Maximus!
The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Colin Fray and Josh West.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Peterson changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Maximus looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Peterson landing a few strikes.
Maximus on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
Maximus is not content to let Peterson control the position.
Peterson is working Maximus over with some ground and pound from side control.
Peterson has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Peterson tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Peterson wants to control the pace but Maximus is squirming around nicely.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Peterson is trying to stand up but he's being controlled by his opponent.
Maximus is in a horrible position here. Peterson smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

It looks like Brutas Maximus has been cut.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Peterson controlling the position easily from mount.
Maximus keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Peterson controlling the pace for now.
Peterson prevents Maximus from getting the reversal.
Peterson wants to control the pace but Maximus is squirming around nicely.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Maximus tries to lock up and control but Peterson gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Peterson lands a couple of good shots and Maximus has given up his back, trying to escape the position!
Maximus is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.

Peterson has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Maximus's body.

Peterson has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Maximus has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Peterson's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Maximus enables Peterson to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Maximus manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Maximus is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Peterson defends well.

Scully Peterson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Maximus is bucking up trying to escape but Peterson cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
