Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Randy Savage (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pat Hughes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Savage comes to the cage accompanied by OH YEAH!!!. Hughes has chosen Lamb of God-Omerta as his entrance music. Both fighters really staring eachother down here, as Pat Hughes enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Randy Savage!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Pat Hughes!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Chris Downing and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hughes tries to clinch up.

Hughes wants to land a leg kick but Savage is out of range.
The fight stays on the outside here - Hughes looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Savage throws a right and a left that Hughes avoids nicely.

Savage bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Hughes stops Savage from passing to mount.

Hughes wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Savage.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Hughes shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Savage connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Hughes forces Savage back against the cage and clinches.
Savage drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Hughes gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Hughes misses with a knee to the head.
Savage tries to pull guard but Hughes won't allow it.

Hughes throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Savage blocks it with crossed arms.

Savage successfully pulls guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Savage is on top in guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Savage accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Savage wants to control from the top but Hughes keeps moving.
Savage working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Savage is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Savage postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Savage won't allow Hughes to sweep him here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Savage goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Hughes wants to clinch
and Savage counters with a three punch combo that has Hughes backing up. Hughes nods at Savage to acknowledge the strikes.
Hughes fails with the takedown
and Savage counters with a nice uppercut.

Savage feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Savage slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
A lull in the action here as Savage stalls from top position.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

You can see the frustration on Hughes's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Savage grinds an elbow into Hughes's temple.
Hughes is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Savage's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Hughes on the wrong end of a nice jab.

and Savage counters with a nice double leg into side control. Hughes won't be happy with that.

Hughes is in a bad spot here and he knows it... just holding on for now.
Hughes is trying to control Savage's posture but Savage avoids it.
Savage is looking to take a break and control but Hughes is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Savage has knee on belly and moves into mount.
Hughes avoids a strike by Savage and manages to complete a very nice reversal in the process, to end up in Savage's guard! Fantastic escape!
Savage is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Hughes must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Savage has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Hughes doesn't defend quickly enough and Savage has managed to lock this one up! Can Hughes escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Savage on a fantastic submission victory.
