PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Peter Parker (ranked 3543 p4p, 24316 weight class) and Raval Bard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Raval Bard told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Peter Parker!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Raval Bard!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Percy O'Donnell and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bard is looking to land body kicks.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Bard is defended easily by Parker.
Bard swings away with a leg kick that misses.

Parker shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Parker keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Parker tries to pass to full mount but Bard defends it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bard is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Parker's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Parker seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Bard for as long as he can get away with.
Parker has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Bard is looking to control Parker's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Bard avoid being mounted?

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Bard looks to land a right hand but Parker moved out of range.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Bard can do anything to dispel that myth.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Bard really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Parker. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
