PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Danny Raggazza (ranked 2698 p4p, 5782 weight class) and Kyle Seehaver (ranked 369 p4p, 623 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 9 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Danny Raggazza!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 15 - 1, fighting out of London, Kyle Seehaver!
The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Aafke Stam and Nard Betker.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Seehaver gets a double leg takedown into Raggazza's guard.
Raggazza is trying to control the position but Seehaver postures up.

Raggazza is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Seehaver avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Seehaver controlling from the top position.
Raggazza looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Seehaver puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Raggazza tries to get to full guard but Seehaver has control of the leg.
We've been hearing good reports from Raggazza's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Seehaver takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Let's hope that Seehaver has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Still in half guard, Seehaver seems content to control.

Raggazza is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.

Raggazza is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Seehaver's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Seehaver's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Raggazza is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Raggazza looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Seehaver has picked Raggazza up and slammed him! Raggazza can't keep hold of the triangle and Seehaver manages to pass to side control!

Raggazza is looking to regain half guard here but Seehaver keeps moving and retains side control.

Raggazza is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Seehaver doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Raggazza.

That was a close round but I would say that Danny Raggazza will probably get the nod.
That's time! Back to the action!

Seehaver fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Raggazza avoids it really well and circles away.

Danny Raggazza has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kyle Seehaver.

Seehaver's coach down at JAG Battle Gym was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Seehaver's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.

Seehaver doesn't manage to clinch there - Raggazza circles away.
Raggazza swings for the body but Seehaver moves out of range.
Raggazza is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Seehaver can do to turn this around?

Seehaver is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Raggazza's shoulder. That is not cool.

Seehaver is looking for a kimura but Raggazza is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Seehaver to get the leverage.

Seehaver is taking a breather. Raggazza says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Raggazza is staying active underneath Seehaver, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Raggazza has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Seehaver is working away from the top position though.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Seehaver closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Raggazza's guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Raggazza wants to sweep here but Seehaver controlling him for the moment.

That was a close second round but I would say that Danny Raggazza will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Seehaver shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Raggazza has his foot on Seehaver's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Seehaver works his way back into a safe position though.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Seehaver fails with a takedown attempt.
Seehaver tries to close the distance and clinch up but Raggazza swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Seehaver moves away from the strike by Raggazza.
Raggazza is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Seehaver.

Seehaver takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

Raggazza scores with a hook to the body. Seehaver takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.

Seehaver rushes Raggazza and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Raggazza lands with a left to the head.
Seehaver tries for a takedown but Raggazza manages to get underhooks.
Seehaver has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Raggazza is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Seehaver's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!

Seehaver pulls guard.
Raggazza is working Seehaver over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Seehaver takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Hammerfist, elbow! yells Raggazza's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

And that's the end of the fight!
Danny Raggazza showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Raggazza, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

In his post fight interview, Danny Raggazza started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
