PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mark Obama (ranked 4687 p4p, 3116 weight class) and Bruce Lenar (ranked 585 p4p, 410 weight class). Obama comes to the cage accompanied by Gods Gonna Knock You Out. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Bruce Lenar!
The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Peter Branson and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Obama takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Obama lands with a kick to the temple. Lenar shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"

It looks like Bruce Lenar has been cut.
Obama lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Obama cracks a nice hook into Lenar's ribs.
Obama connects with a looping right hand.
Obama scores with a nice right hand.
Obama throws a series of punches but Lenar moves out of range.

Obama gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Lenar to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Obama is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Lenar presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Obama struggles to land a body shot inside as Lenar controls his hands.
Lenar tries to land knees in the clinch but Obama avoids the damage to the body.

Obama jumps guard but Lenar turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Lenar has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Obama is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Lenar.

Lenar trying to get back to full guard but Obama takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount!

Obama wants to finish this one by submission but Lenar is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Obama.

Obama has hold of Lenar's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Lenar manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Lenar tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Lenar slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.

Obama lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Lenar circles away quickly and effectively.
Lenar tries a head kick but it misses.
Lenar fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Obama seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
The fight stays on the outside here - Lenar looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Obama misses with a few strikes there.
Obama is breathing heavily.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Lenar.
Obama works over Lenar's head and body with a nice combination.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Lenar is looking to clinch but Obama is avoiding it.

Lenar dives in for a single leg takedown but Obama sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Lenar shoots in looking for a takedown but Obama manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Lenar's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Obama quickly followed up with a counter body kick but doesn't connect.

Obama swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.

Lenar will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Lenar tries to close the distance and clinch but Obama swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

and Obama makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Obama seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
Lenar takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

Obama gets tackled into the cage by Lenar. Lenar maintains the clinch.
Obama is pressed up against the cage. Lenar has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Obama down to the mat. Obama avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Obama punishes Lenar's body with a nice straight punch.
Mark Obama is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Obama throws a nice looking combination but Lenar bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Bruce Lenar has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Lenar throws a leg kick but Obama checks it.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Obama, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
