PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Scully Peterson (ranked 5422 p4p, 5441 weight class) and Brutas Maximus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Peterson has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Brutas Maximus enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Scully Peterson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Brutas Maximus!
The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Jeff Smith and Paul Gruel.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Peterson throws the kick towards the body but Maximus avoids it.
Peterson defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Maximus.
Maximus fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Maximus shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Peterson counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Peterson.
Scully Peterson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Brutas Maximus.
Maximus is pressed up against the cage. Peterson has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Maximus down to the mat. Maximus avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Maximus blocks the body kick.
Maximus dives in and grabs Peterson's left leg, looking for a takedown. Peterson pushes down on Maximus's head and hops out.

Maximus moves in looking to clinch but Peterson pushes him off.

Maximus wants to take the fight to the mat but Peterson manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Peterson pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Maximus shoots in looking for a takedown but Peterson manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Maximus's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Peterson gets tackled into the cage by Maximus. Maximus maintains the clinch.
A frustrated look appears on Maximus's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Peterson is pressed up against the cage. Maximus has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Peterson down to the mat. Peterson avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Maximus has closed the distance and engaged Peterson in a clinch.
Maximus changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Peterson fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Peterson throws a low kick but Maximus avoids it.
Nice sprawl there from Maximus as Peterson shoots in.
Maximus shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Peterson as he avoids it easily.
Maximus misses with a takedown attempt - Peterson sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Maximus manages to pull guard.
Peterson pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Maximus is keeping the position for now.
Maximus is trying to control the position from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Peterson sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Maximus's guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Peterson looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Peterson wants to stand but Maximus has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Scully Peterson will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.

Maximus closes the distance and pushes Peterson back into the cage.

Peterson breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Peterson shoots in for a takedown but Maximus shows good takedown defense.
Maximus wants to counter the offense by Peterson and move into the clinch position.
Peterson is looking to clinch.
Maximus goes for a double leg but Peterson avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Peterson continues to drive forward.
Maximus jabs Peterson to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Maximus throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Peterson's waist but Peterson gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Maximus off to one side.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Maximus prevents a takedown attempt there.
Maximus is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Peterson is defending well.

Peterson has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Maximus clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Maximus looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Brutas Maximus showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

It looked like Peterson was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.

Peterson tries to pull guard but Maximus won't allow it.

Maximus blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Maximus wants to stall.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
Maximus is trying to force a seperation but Peterson has the dominant position.
Peterson keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Maximus's efforts to push away.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.

Peterson's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Peterson forces Maximus back against the cage and clinches.

Maximus drags the fight down to the ground.
Peterson wants to control from the top but Maximus keeps moving.
Maximus is trying to control the position but Peterson postures up.

Maximus escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Peterson gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Maximus has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Peterson off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
The fighters circle momentarily. Maximus darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Maximus shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Peterson sprawls well. Peterson wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Maximus gets slowly back to his feet.

And that's the end of the fight!
Brutas Maximus comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Maximus has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
