Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Durans Helmsfrid (ranked 4363 p4p, 2766 weight class) and Patrick Watt (ranked 552 p4p, 375 weight class). Patrick Watt will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Helmsfrid closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Watt really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Helmsfrid. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Watt is staying active underneath Helmsfrid, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Helmsfrid landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Helmsfrid looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Watt has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Helmsfrid is working away from the top position though.

Helmsfrid slows the pace down in half guard.
Watt keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Helmsfrid seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Watt does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Watt has hold of Helmsfrid's hands but Helmsfrid slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Helmsfrid is stalling here. Watt is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Helmsfrid seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Watt has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
Helmsfrid has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Watt decides to stand back up. Watt steps back and let's Helmsfrid get back to his feet.

Oooooh!!! Watt has knocked Helmsfrid down with a huge combo! Watt steps away and waves a wobbly Helmsfrid back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!

It looks like Durans Helmsfrid has been cut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Helmsfrid misses with an uppercut
and Watt connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Oh Helmsfrid is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

and Watt counters with a huge left! Helmsfrid is in big trouble! He's backing up but Watt isn't giving him chance to recover. Under a barage of punches the ref has to step in to save Helmsfrid from any more damage. A dominating finish by Watt!
