PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Timo Leyton (ranked 5016 p4p, 4712 weight class) and Zach Ghostkeeper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Timo Leyton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Zach Ghostkeeper!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Sandra Marshall and Peter Branson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Leyton gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Ghostkeeper uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Leyton has time to react.
Ghostkeeper scores with a leg kick.
Ghostkeeper jabs Leyton to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Ghostkeeper tries a head kick but it misses.
Leyton tries to counter with a takedown but Ghostkeeper is quick to defend against it.
Ghostkeeper falls off balance throwing a combination

and Leyton counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Ghostkeeper tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Leyton loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Ghostkeeper wants to sweep but no luck.
Leyton chips away with some ground and pound.
Leyton trying to control but Ghostkeeper is working from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Leyton trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Leyton accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Leyton trying to control but Ghostkeeper is working from the bottom.
Ghostkeeper trying to control the position.
Leyton chips away with some ground and pound.
Leyton stays in close to Ghostkeeper's body and controls the position.

Ghostkeeper has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Leyton can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Ghostkeeper has momentary wrist control but Leyton slips an elbow through the middle.
Leyton slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Leyton makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Ghostkeeper working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Leyton doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Leyton manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Ghostkeeper is trying to control the position but Leyton postures up.
Leyton chips away with some ground and pound.
Leyton cracks Ghostkeeper with a solid left hand.
Leyton is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Leyton distracts Ghostkeeper with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Leyton wants to control from the top but Ghostkeeper keeps moving.

Leyton is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.

Leyton drops back, looking for a kneebar! Ghostkeeper looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Ghostkeeper looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Ghostkeeper!

Leyton is looking for a sweep.
Leyton is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Ghostkeeper's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Ghostkeeper wants to control but Leyton is keeping him busy.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Leyton is positioning himself well to prevent Ghostkeeper advancing to mount.
Leyton flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Ghostkeeper content to control rather than advance.
Leyton wants to get back to full guard.
Ghostkeeper trying to mount his opponent but Leyton defends it.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Ghostkeeper is looking for a kimura but Leyton is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Ghostkeeper to get the leverage.
Leyton is trying to maintain the position but Ghostkeeper is very close to passing his half guard.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Timo Leyton will probably get the nod.
That's time! Leyton's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Ghostkeeper misses with a double jab.
Ghostkeeper throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Leyton counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Ghostkeeper!
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Ghostkeeper wants to control but Leyton postures up.
Leyton in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
Leyton working the ground and pound from side control.
Ghostkeeper on the wrong end of some ground and pound.

Leyton swings around for an armbar but Ghostkeeper sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Leyton's guard.

Leyton had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Ghostkeeper defends it easily.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Ghostkeeper postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Leyton is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Ghostkeeper, into his guard.

Ghostkeeper lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Timo Leyton overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Leyton working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Ghostkeeper doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Leyton is tightening it up a little... Ghostkeeper has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Ghostkeeper reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Ghostkeeper taps out! Nice BJJ there by Leyton!
