Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Blessed Barny (ranked 2037 p4p, 2975 weight class) and Marques Moura (ranked 255 p4p, 367 weight class). Moura has chosen Sepultura - Tainted Love as his entrance music. Marques Moura will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Moura looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Barny has hold of Moura's hands but Moura slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Moura wants to take a breather but Barny is having none of it.
Moura is looking to stall here but Barny recovers full guard.
Barny is pulling down on Moura's head. It's preventing any offense from Moura, at least for the moment.
Moura advances to half guard.

Moura is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Barny is just riding it out for now. Moura eventually gives up the hold.
Moura has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Moura works his way into full mount!
Moura is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Moura postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Barny looks a forlorn figure.

Moura is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Barny has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Barny!
Barny definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Moura looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Barny puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Barny wants to control but Moura is keeping him busy.

Hammerfist, elbow! yells Barny's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Moura has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Barny is working away from the top position though.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Barny content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Moura manages to get to full guard.
Barny is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Moura looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Barny postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Moura is trying to control the position but Barny postures up.
Moura throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Barny tries to free his leg and advance position but Moura is retaining full guard.
Barny wants to control from the top but Moura keeps moving.
Barny connects with a couple of short punches.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Moura looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Moura isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Barny stacks Moura on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Barny!

Moura is working to avoid the ground and pound but Barny connects with a decent elbow.
Moura is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Barny's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Barny prevents Moura from improving his position.
Moura is not content to let Barny control the position.

Moura bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
Moura wants to control from the top but Barny keeps moving.

Barny working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Moura doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Moura manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Moura stands over his opponent and dives in with a flying punch! Barny throws up his legs and catches Moura in a triangle! Oh this looks tight! Moura tries to escape but he's forced to tap! Wow, fantastic work there by Barny! That came out of nowhere!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Blessed Barny!
Blessed Barny decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
