PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Matheus Cano (ranked 7129 p4p, 25042 weight class) and Ajay Dabeast (ranked 617 p4p, 661 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Matheus Cano!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Ajay Dabeast!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Sandra Marshall and Bart Greer.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cano misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Dabeast closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Cano's guard.
Dabeast pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Cano is keeping the position for now.
Cano not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Cano is working an open guard so Dabeast takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

And Dabeast tries to counter it with a takedown but Cano pushes his down on his head and steps out.

Cano stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Dabeast swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Cano escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Dabeast gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Cano has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Dabeast can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Dabeast wants to pass the guard but Cano is keeping the position.

Cano is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Cano is trying to drag Dabeast to the mat but Dabeast just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Ajay Dabeast showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

I would just about give that final round to Ajay Dabeast.
