PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Dame Nitro (ranked 6912 p4p, 25049 weight class) and Xxx Xxx (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dame Nitro!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Xxx Xxx!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Cecil Peabody and Gwen Towbar.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Xxx fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Nitro is looking to counter with head kicks.

Xxx gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Xxx is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Nitro dives into side control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Xxx is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Nitro asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Nitro stands up.

Xxx shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Nitro manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Nitro pushes Xxx off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Nitro looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Xxx!

Xxx throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!
This has been an exciting period of action!

Nitro looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Nitro won't allow Xxx to get back to his feet.
Nitro wants to get up but he can't break Xxx's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Nitro controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Xxx has a closed guard, preventing Nitro from standing up.
Nitro's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Xxx has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Nitro is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.
Nitro gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Xxx.
Xxx is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

That was a close round but I would say that Dame Nitro will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Dame Nitro overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Nitro pulls Xxx in close to prevent any damage.
Xxx won't allow Nitro to sweep him here.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Xxx stops Nitro from standing up.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Xxx slaps away a takedown attempt from Nitro, before circling back to the center of the mat.
A countering left hand to the body from Xxx misses.
Xxx doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Nitro counters with a good, hard body kick but Xxx shrugs it off.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Xxx fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Xxx darts in looking for a takedown but Nitro gets double underhooks and turns Xxx into the cage.
Nitro thinks about countering with a body kick.
Dame Nitro has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Xxx Xxx.
Nitro shoots in but no luck this time.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Xxx shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Nitro defends it nicely.
Nitro goes for a double leg but Xxx avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Xxx continues to drive forward.
Xxx let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Xxx looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Xxx manages to break the clinch.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Dame Nitro will probably get the nod.
That's time! Back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Xxx slaps away a takedown attempt from Nitro, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Xxx replies with a solid counter kick to the body but Nitro blocks it well.
No luck for Xxx with that takedown attempt.

Xxx steps in looking to counter with the mid kick but it doesn't connect.
Nitro keeps control of Xxx as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Xxx wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Xxx breaks from the clinch.
Xxx shoots in for a double leg but Nitro sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Xxx shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Nitro defends it nicely.
Dame Nitro has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Xxx Xxx.

Xxx shoots in looking for a takedown but Nitro manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Xxx's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Nitro changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.

Xxx scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Nitro is looking for a sweep. Xxx is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Nitro on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Nitro tries to get out of the position.
Xxx stops Nitro from getting back to his feet.

Xxx fails to land the takedown.

Nitro tries to sprawl but Xxx drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Nitro is holding on to half guard well.

Xxx wants to stand up but Nitro is controlling the position.
Xxx prevents Nitro from standing back up.
Xxx Xxx has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Dame Nitro is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Xxx is nestled in close to Nitro, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Xxx not landing any meaningful shots this time.

Xxx Xxx comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
