PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Maurice Tillet (ranked 1205 p4p, 1555 weight class) and Odd Job (ranked 181 p4p, 239 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Odd Job was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Odd Job!
The judges for this bout are Winston Alpacca, Michael Johnstone and Dirk Anderson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A big left from Job misses.
Tillet feinted with a counter takedown.
Tillet slips a jab from Job.
Job misses with a straight left.
Job swings widly with a right hand

and Tillet counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Tillet accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Job looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Tillet in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Tillet throws a big right hand that misses.

Job working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Tillet doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Tillet manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Job lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Tillet tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Job stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Tillet swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Job postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Job is fighting to break Tillet's control of his arms but Tillet is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Tillet throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

Job drops back looking for a leg! Tillet is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Tillet manages to kick Job off! Job jumps back into Tillet's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Job is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Tillet on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Tillet tries to get out of the position.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Tillet seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.

Tillet is sitting in close to Job's body. Job has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Tillet is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Tillet is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Job.
