PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Tourney Warrior (ranked 2593 p4p, 2624 weight class) and Harris Reed (ranked 264 p4p, 268 weight class). Reed has chosen Beethoven's 5th Symphony as his entrance music. Tourney Warrior has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Tourney Warrior!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Harris Reed!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Tiny Johnson and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Warrior loads up on a big right hand but Reed slips the punch.
Reed blocks a leg kick.
Reed tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Reed fails with a takedown attempt.
Warrior looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger.

Reed feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Reed pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Warrior is keeping the position for now.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Warrior wants to stand and escape but Reed is having none of it.

Reed thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Reed stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Warrior swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Reed is pushing down on Warrior's leg trying to pass to half guard. Warrior is fighting to maintain full guard but Reed has managed to sneak the leg through.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Reed wants to pass to mount but Warrior is defending the position.
Reed throwing shots but Warrior is blocking nicely.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Reed is working for a kimura but Warrior is defending it quite comfortably.
Warrior is trying to stand back up but Reed is controlling him

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Reed trying to mount his opponent but Warrior defends it.

Reed is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Warrior sees it coming and defends easily.
Reed looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Warrior won't allow Reed to pass to mount.

Reed wants to work for an arm triangle but Warrior is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Reed wants to pass to mount but Warrior is defending the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Reed is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Warrior!
Warrior avoids a series of strikes thrown by Reed.
Reed wants to take Warrior's back here but Warrior is holding on to an arm, himself looking to escape.

Reed goes for an armbar but Warrior turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Warrior.

Reed isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Warrior stacks Reed on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Warrior!
Reed is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Warrior is one step ahead and moves to full mount!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Reed is desperately trying to improve his position but Warrior has a good base and remains in mount.
Reed wants to hold on but Warrior pushes him away.
Reed is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Warrior tries to stand up but he's trapped just for the moment.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Reed really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Harris Reed will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Warrior misses with a lunging right hand

and Reed counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Warrior on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Warrior tries to get out of the position.
Reed looking to pass the guard.
Reed loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Reed slips nicely into half guard.
Reed throwing shots but Warrior is blocking nicely.
Reed is keen to just control but Warrior is a slippery customer.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Reed takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Reed is pressing down on Warrior's thigh, looking to free his foot. Warrior is holding on for now.
Reed throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Reed missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.

Reed is working for a kimura but Warrior is defending it quite comfortably.
Reed is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Warrior!
Warrior is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.

Reed is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Reed extends the arm and Warrior is forced to tap!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Harris Reed!
During a confident post fight interview, Harris Reed thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
