PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ken Yamano (ranked 4608 p4p, 4361 weight class) and Lee Dong Wook (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Yamano comes into the arena with Smoke on the Water blaring out of the sound system. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ken Yamano!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Lee Dong Wook!
The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Sosuke Kotani and Yuuki Gou.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Yamano uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Dong Wook.

Dong Wook has closed the distance and engaged Yamano in a clinch.

Dong Wook has Yamano pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Dong Wook pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Yamano tumbling to the mat - Dong Wook dives into Yamano's guard.
Yamano has his hands on Dong Wook's head, controlling the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Yamano pulls Dong Wook in close to his closed guard and prevents Dong Wook from doing any damage or advancing position.

Yamano might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Yamano had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Dong Wook defends it easily.
Yamano controls Dong Wook momentarily but Dong Wook frees himself.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Dong Wook is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Yamano has escaped the position, nice work there.
Dong Wook creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.

Yamano can't keep his opponent in guard - Dong Wook advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Yamano is looking for a sweep.
Yamano manages to work his way to half guard, despite Dong Wook's best efforts.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Dong Wook throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Yamano is trying to maintain the position but Dong Wook is very close to passing his half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Yamano tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Dong Wook closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Yamano did well to prevent Dong Wook getting side control.
Yamano makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Yamano.
Dong Wook prevents Yamano from getting back to his feet.

Yamano looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Dong Wook keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Yamano's head.

Dong Wook is looking to take a break and control but Yamano is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Dong Wook has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Dong Wook misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Dong Wook escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Yamano closes this distance looking for a takedown but Dong Wook circles away.
Yamano shoots for a double leg takedown but Dong Wook sprawls well. He's pushed Yamano's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Yamano closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Dong Wook's guard.

Dong Wook wriggles free and stands up.
A big left from Yamano misses.

Dong Wook breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Dong Wook lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Yamano circles away quickly and effectively.
Dong Wook takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Yamano shoots for a double leg takedown but Dong Wook sprawls well. He's pushed Yamano's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ken Yamano. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Dong Wook fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Yamano sprawls well initially but Dong Wook persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Dong Wook decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Yamano tries to clinch up.

Dong Wook dips to his left and cracks Yamano with an uppercut!

Yamano dives in for a single leg takedown but Dong Wook sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Yamano wants to get back to his feet but Dong Wook is dominant here and he's now got Yamano's back!

Lee Dong Wook showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Yamano kicks Dong Wook off and gets to his feet.

Dong Wook feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Dong Wook wants to sweep but Yamano has passed to side control!
Yamano lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Dong Wook down.

Ken Yamano has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Lee Dong Wook is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Yamano seems to be working for a kimura but Dong Wook defends the submission attempt.

Ken Yamano showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Dong Wook has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
