The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Maximus Jr gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Prodigy throwing strikes from guard but Maximus Jr blocks nicely.
Prodigy stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Maximus Jr swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Maximus Jr escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Prodigy gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Prodigy is looking to pass into half guard but Maximus Jr pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Maximus Jr is in guard.

Prodigy has his foot on Maximus Jr's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Maximus Jr works his way back into a safe position though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Maximus Jr is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Prodigy working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Maximus Jr doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Prodigy is tightening it up a little... Maximus Jr has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Maximus Jr reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Maximus Jr taps out! Nice BJJ there by Prodigy !
