Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dalton Hawley (ranked 6306 p4p, 4237 weight class) and Josh Johnson (ranked 638 p4p, 0 weight class). Hawley comes to the cage accompanied by Tyler Herro. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dalton Hawley!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Josh Johnson!
The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Chad Campbell and Dean Styles.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hawley misses with a head kick.
Johnson misses with a takedown attempt - Hawley sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Hawley throws a big counter combination but Johnson scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Hawley misses with a few strikes there.
Johnson fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Hawley is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Johnson feints the counter takedown.
Johnson keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Hawley.
Hawley lands with a kick to the temple. Johnson shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Hawley tries for a takedown but Johnson sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Johnson shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Hawley sprawls well. Hawley wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Johnson gets slowly back to his feet.

With the fighters up against the cage, Johnson throws an elbow but misses.
Hawley really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Johnson is working for takedown but Hawley is calmly controlling the position for now.
Hawley prevents Johnson from breaking the clinch.

Hawley escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Johnson fails to land the takedown.
Hawley tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Johnson manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Hawley is looking to clinch but Johnson is avoiding it.
Hawley stuffs the takedown.
Hawley misses with a wild body shot.
Johnson shoots in for a takedown but Hawley shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Johnson moves into range and clinches up with Hawley.
Johnson jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Hawley walks away with a smile on his face. Johnson gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Hawley misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Johnson clinches up with Hawley and pushes him back against the cage.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Johnson jumps guard and drags Hawley to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Hawley trying to control but Johnson is working from the bottom.

Johnson pushes Hawley off and scrambles back to his feet.

An uppercut to the body lands inside from Johnson.
Johnson wants a takedown.
Our sources have told us that Hawley has been working on his elbows in the gym.

Johnson goes for a takedown attempt but Hawley pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Johnson shoots for a double leg takedown but Hawley sprawls well. He's pushed Johnson's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Johnson closes the distance and clinches up with Hawley, looking for a takedown. Johnson pushes Hawley against the cage but Hawley circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Hawley loads up on a big right hand but Johnson slips the punch.
Johnson cracks a nice hook into Hawley's ribs.

Johnson closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Hawley has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Johnson after a bit of a struggle.
Johnson jumps guard but Hawley turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Johnson is trying to drag Hawley to the mat but Hawley just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Johnson pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Hawley swinging wildly here.
Johnson has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Hawley gets tackled into the cage by Johnson. Johnson maintains the clinch.
Johnson tries to circle away but Hawley has him pinned against the cage.
Hawley jumps guard but Johnson stands there with Hawley around his waist. Hawley gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Johnson can't break the clinch.

Johnson has control of Hawley's left arm, preventing Hawley from doing any damage.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hawley throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Johnson moves into range and clinches up with Hawley.
Johnson manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Johnson ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Johnson no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Hawley is fighting to break Johnson's control of his arms but Johnson is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Johnson lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Johnson dives in and grabs Hawley's left leg, looking for a takedown. Hawley pushes down on Johnson's head and hops out.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Johnson pulls Hawley in to control the position.

Hawley advances to half guard.
Hawley tries to pass to full mount but Johnson defends it.
Hawley sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Johnson defending well though.
Johnson avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Hawley.
Hawley tries to stand and escape but Johnson actually recovers to full guard.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Johnson looking to hit a scissor sweep but Hawley is one step ahead there.
Hawley wants to pass the guard but Johnson is keeping the position.

Johnson working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Hawley doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Hawley manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Hawley tries to stand but Johnson is controlling from the bottom.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Josh Johnson.
I've got Johnson winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
