PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Kaiji Inoue (ranked 788 p4p, 530 weight class) and Chan Siam (ranked 94 p4p, 69 weight class). Inoue's entrance music is Ladies and Gentlemen (Saliva). A fine choice. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Kaiji Inoue!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Chan Siam!
The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Hirohito Nitta and Shirou Masuda.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Siam rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Inoue counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Siam bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Inoue's head.
A looping hook to the body misses from Siam. Inoue does a little dance to reset his feet.
Inoue was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Inoue uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Siam has time to react.
Siam fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Inoue dodges the punch combination from Siam.
A slow jab from Siam misses its intended target.
A big right from Siam misses.
That kick from Inoue tenderised Siam's leg. Siam is trying to keep his angry face on.

Inoue avoids the body shot from Siam.
Inoue clobbers Siam with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Siam moves out of range of the strikes.
Inoue has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Far-Q Fight Club in the buildup to the fight.
Siam feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Inoues jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Inoue tries to improve position but can't.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Siam is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Inoue tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Siam works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Siam remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Inoue is not content to let Siam control the position.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Siam cracks Inoue with an elbow. That is naaassty.

Siam is staying tight to Inoue's torso, preventing him from escaping.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Siam connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Inoue some visible discomfort.

Inoue takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Inoue is looking for a sweep.
Siam works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Chan Siam dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Siam takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

Siam gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Siam jumps guard but Inoue turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Inoue lands with a right to the head.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Inoue.
Siam prevents a body shot from Inoue.
Siam has Inoue pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Inoue manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Inoue struggles to land a body shot inside as Siam controls his hands.
Inoue gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Siam.
Kaiji Inoue has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Chan Siam.
Inoue swings away with an uppercut that misses.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Siam avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Siam uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Inoue.
Kaiji Inoue is winning the standup battle so far.
Inoue doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Siam throws a lazy right hand but Inoue sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Siam on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Inoue misses with a straight left.
Inoue connects with a crisp jab.

Inoue tries to sprawl but Siam drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Inoue wants to control but Siam is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Siam is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Inoue tries to roll over but Siam keeps him under control.
Siam trying to control the action but Inoue is working from the bottom.
Siam uses his free foot to push down on Inoue's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Inoue.

Inoue tries to reverse the position but Siam maintains control.
Inoue is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
Siam lands a nice shot to the head.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Siam lands a couple of good shots and Inoue has given up his back, trying to escape the position!

Siam scores with some strikes to the side of the head there. Good, points scoring shots.

Inoue tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!

Siam scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Siam is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Inoue can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Oh Inoue is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Siam has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Oooooh, big shot lands for Siam! Inoue is hurt baaadly! Siam is firing away with more strikes - Inoue is covering up... the ref is warning him to do something. He's just covering up though still and the ref has to step in to end the fight! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:52 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Chan Siam!
A relieved looking Chan Siam thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
