PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Brandon Velluire (ranked 4553 p4p, 24949 weight class) and Michael Bisping (ranked 530 p4p, 0 weight class). Michael Bisping is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Brandon Velluire!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Michael Bisping!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Chris Edwards and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bisping takes a head kick and shrugs it off.

Velluire moves into the clinch.
Bisping wants a takedown.

Velluire pulls Bisping into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Velluire is controlling Bisping's posture.
Bisping must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Velluire wants to sweep but no luck.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Velluire has Bisping pulled in close to control his posture.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Velluire manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Bisping manages to get himself to full guard.

Bisping wants to control the position but Velluire says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
Velluire looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Velluire has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Bisping is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Velluire pulls his head out easily.

Velluire is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Bisping doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Velluire.
Bisping felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Bisping wants to get back to full guard but Velluire has passed into side control.
Velluire controls the position.

Velluire decides to stand back up.
Bisping rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Velluire moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Bisping is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Velluire throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Velluire scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

You can see the frustration on Bisping's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Velluire is trying to get an arm triangle but Bisping is defending well.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Bisping gets tackled into the cage by Velluire. Velluire maintains the clinch.

Velluire decides to pull guard.
Velluire keeping moving, preventing Bisping from controlling successfully.

Velluire has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Bisping has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.
Velluire is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Bisping gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Bisping breaks the clinch.
Bisping wants to clinch up but Velluire keeps it at a distance.

Velluire feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Bisping has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Velluire is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Bisping has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Velluire uses from the top position.
Brandon Velluire overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Bisping working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Velluire doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Velluire manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Velluire seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Velluire slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Velluire tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.

Velluire decides to stand up, so the ref orders Bisping to his feet.
Bisping tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Velluire swivels and escapes.

Velluire shoots in and drives through. Bisping sprawls well.
Bisping is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Velluire with a body shot.

Velluire drives through with a takedown into guard.

Bisping is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Velluire defends well.

Velluire passes Bisping's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Bisping wants to get back to full guard.
Bisping pushes Velluire off looking to stand but Velluire dives back in and keeps control.

Velluire is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Bisping is just riding it out for now. Velluire eventually gives up the hold.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. And we move into the final round!


Bisping gets caught napping as Velluire dives in and scores a takedown. Bisping manages to retain guard.

Bisping looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Bisping is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Velluire controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Bisping throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

Velluire content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Velluire chips away with some ground and pound.

Velluire gets to his feet. Bisping looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Velluire misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Bisping.
Bisping flicks out a counter leg kick but Velluire steps away.
Bisping dives in for a single leg takedown but Velluire sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Bisping throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Velluire's waist but Velluire gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Bisping off to one side.
Bisping takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
A jab from Velluire finds it's way through Bisping's defenses.

Velluire closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Come on Velluire - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.

Velluire's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Bisping shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Brandon Velluire has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Michael Bisping.
Bisping tries to score a power double leg takedown but Velluire sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Bisping somewhat.

Velluire closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Bisping is being controlled here.
Bisping is trying to get back to half guard.

Velluire stands up.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Velluire lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Bisping has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Bisping and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Bisping closes the distance and clinches up with Velluire, looking for a takedown. Bisping pushes Velluire against the cage but Velluire circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Velluire changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Bisping looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Velluire decides to stand up, so the ref orders Bisping to his feet.
Bisping fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Velluire throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Velluire.
Bisping tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Velluire presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!
Velluire tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

And that's the end of the fight!
Brandon Velluire showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Velluire has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
