Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Boris Botenberg (ranked 5104 p4p, 5105 weight class) and Verdan Corlutka (ranked 575 p4p, 576 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Boris Botenberg!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Verdan Corlutka!
The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Bart Greer and Santiago Holmes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Botenberg is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Corlutka's half guard.
Botenberg wants to lay and pray for a moment but Corlutka keeps working.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Botenberg wants to stand but Corlutka has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Botenberg perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Corlutka is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Botenberg manages to break the clinch.
Corlutka closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Botenberg is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Corlutka can do to turn this around?
Botenberg takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Corlutka goes for a double leg but Botenberg avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Botenberg continues to drive forward.

A telegraphed right hand from Botenberg misses the target.
As Botenberg backs off Corlutka throws a huge counter combo but Botenberg manages to avoid it all.
Corlutka is trying hard to land a takedown here. Botenberg sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
And Botenberg counters with a quick kick to the body but Corlutka blocks it.

Botenberg is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Corlutka can't fight it off and eventually Botenberg manages to take the fight to the floor. Corlutka looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Botenberg forces Corlutka back against the cage and clinches.

Botenberg has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Corlutka clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Botenberg is landing with strikes. Corlutka can't take much more of this.
Corlutka is trying to break free.
Corlutka just trying to survive but Botenberg is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.
Corlutka tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!

Botenberg swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Corlutka is now in Botenberg's guard. A big mistake from Botenberg there, giving up the dominant position!
Corlutka throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Botenberg works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Corlutka looking to sit in guard and control but Botenberg gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Botenberg keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Corlutka's head.
Botenberg stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Corlutka swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Corlutka tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Botenberg wants to get up but he can't break Corlutka's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Botenberg wants to control from the top but Corlutka keeps moving.
Corlutka wants to improve his position but instead Botenberg has moved into half guard.
Botenberg passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Corlutka!
Corlutka is controlling an arm, preventing Botenberg from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Boris Botenberg will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!


Botenberg manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Corlutka on his heels. He'll look to pass Corlutka's guard now, I'm sure.
Corlutka is wriggling around but Botenberg manages to pass to half guard.

Corlutka tries to kick Botenberg off but Botenberg keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Boris Botenberg overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Corlutka is looking to control Botenberg's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Corlutka avoid being mounted?

Botenberg looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Corlutka manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Botenberg keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.

Botenberg goes for a takedown in the clinch but Corlutka prevents it.
Corlutka tries to throw a body punch but Botenberg avoids it by throwing Corlutka back against the cage.

Botenberg turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!

A momentary lapse in concentration from Corlutka enables Botenberg to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Corlutka manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Corlutka wants to stand up but Botenberg is controlling him.

Botenberg is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Botenberg's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Botenberg tries to free his leg and advance position but Corlutka is retaining full guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Corlutka shoots in and drives through. Botenberg sprawls well.

Botenberg tries to move to mount but Corlutka blocks the move with his legs.
This has been an exciting period of action!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Verdan Corlutka has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Boris Botenberg is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Corlutka is looking to get back to his feet here but Botenberg is keeping cool and he's managed to take Corlutka's back.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Boris Botenberg.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Botenberg, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
