PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Khru Jako (ranked 175 p4p, 238 weight class) and Bobby Bobblehead (ranked 26 p4p, 35 weight class). Jako comes to the cage accompanied by Catch a Fire. Bobblehead comes into a darkened arena with his song building. For Heavy Metal we will die! kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 28 - 15 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Khru Jako!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Bobby Bobblehead!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Leandro Rodrigues and Edson Gomes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bobblehead has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Jako finds it's way round the side to connect with Bobblehead's head.
Jako takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
Bobblehead has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.
Jako swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Bobblehead throws a hook but Jako avoids it easily.

Bobblehead takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Jako misses the jab.
Jako throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
It seemed like Bobblehead was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
A looping hook to the body misses from Jako. Bobblehead does a little dance to reset his feet.
And Bobblehead tries to counter it with a takedown but Jako pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Jako scores with a jab to the body.

We've been told by Jako's head coaches at Hey Steves Fight Shack that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Jako misses with a looping left.

Bobblehead throws the kick towards the body but Jako avoids it.

Both fighters circling a little - Bobblehead finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Khru Jako seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Jako fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Bobblehead checks it well.
Bobblehead swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Jako misses with an uppercut.
Nice shot lands for Bobblehead.
Jako takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

Bobblehead closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Jako did well to prevent Bobblehead getting side control.
Bobblehead uses his free foot to push down on Jako's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Jako.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Bobblehead is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Jako can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Bobblehead postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Jako looks a forlorn figure.
Bobblehead misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Bobblehead cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Jako is rocked!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Bobblehead is in full mount looking to finish with strikes. He lands a big shot, followed by another and Jako goes limp! The ref jumps in to end the fight - a big win for Bobblehead!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:26 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Bobby Bobblehead!
Bobby Bobblehead is the new welterweight champion!
In his post fight interview, Bobby Bobblehead started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
