PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Steve Cusumano (ranked 1658 p4p, 2767 weight class) and Kyle Seehaver (ranked 237 p4p, 356 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Cusumano might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Gamefire. The key to victory for Steve Cusumano has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 14 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Steve Cusumano!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 11 - 0, fighting out of London, Kyle Seehaver!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Wagner Zegers and Nard Betker.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Cusumano closes the distance and clinches.
Seehaver is trying to break the clinch but Cusumano is controlling him.
A short uppercut from Cusumano.
Seehaver is working for takedown but Cusumano is calmly controlling the position for now.
Seehaver prevents the takedown attempt.
Cusumano has Seehaver pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Seehaver manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Seehaver is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Cusumano pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Cusumano pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Seehaver shoots in for a double leg but Cusumano sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Steve Cusumano has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kyle Seehaver.

Cusumano rushes Seehaver and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Seehaver drops down looking for an ankle pick but Cusumano pulls his leg out and moves away.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Cusumano's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Seehaver shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Cusumano is trying to defend but Seehaver finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Seehaver is taking a breather. Cusumano says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

It looks like Seehaver might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Cusumano can't escape the position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Cusumano is working to get back to half guard.
Seehaver content just to control the position here.
Cusumano is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Seehaver trying to control but Cusumano is having none of it.
Cusumano really wants to buck Seehaver off and get back to his feet.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Seehaver moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Cusumano has worked his arm free - good work by Cusumano!
Cusumano is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Seehaver has just dragged him back down to the mat.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Kyle Seehaver will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Cusumano is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Seehaver fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Cusumano pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Steve Cusumano is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Seehaver is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Cusumano's half guard.
Seehaver is thwarting Cusumano's attempts to control the position.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Seehaver in particular looking to stall.

Seehaver seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Cusumano does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Seehaver takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Seehaver is breathing heavily.
Cusumano wants to clinch up but Seehaver keeps it at a distance.

Seehaver walks forward, straight into a front kick from Cusumano.
Cusumano scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Cusumano is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Seehaver can do to turn this around?

Cusumano gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Cusumano turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Cusumano manages to end up in side control.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Cusumano rushes Seehaver and presses him up against the cage.
Seehaver goes for a takedown in the clinch but Cusumano prevents it.

Cusumano dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Cusumano is looking to wear down Seehaver with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.

Cusumano moves into range and clinches up with Seehaver.
Cusumano has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Seehaver avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Seehaver is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Cusumano gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Cusumano scores with a big shot! Seehaver's head bounced off the canvas with a huge thud! More strikes land and the referee has jumped in to save Seehaver! He was hurt real bad - good stoppage!

Steve Cusumano seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
