PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a heavyweight kickboxing rules bout between Ari Baba (ranked 3578 p4p, 1928 weight class) and Keke Sonni (ranked 350 p4p, 210 weight class). Sonni has chosen Lil Uzi Vert - That Way as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Ari Baba!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Keke Sonni!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Bruno Lombardi and Alyssa Summers.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Baba waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Sonni.
Baba ducks under a wild hook from Sonni.
Sonni swinging wildly here.
Baba throws a big counter combination but Sonni scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Sonni jabbing away but nothing is landing.
It appears Baba was looking to counter with a kick there.
Sonni throws an overhand right that lands on Baba's shoulder, as Baba tries to avoid the shot.
Baba moves out of range of the strikes.
Baba lunges at Sonni with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Sonni's hand.
Baba lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Baba has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Kaptajnernes Træningscenter in the buildup to the fight.
Sonni looks to land a left hand but Baba moved out of range nicely.
Sonni shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Baba checks a low kick from Sonni.
Sonni throws a series of punches but Baba avoids them all with ease.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Baba throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Sonni sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Sonni fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Baba has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Sonni misses the jab.
Sonni pivots, looking for a leg kick but Baba is out of range and Sonni settles back down.
Sonni displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Sonni comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Baba misses with a body shot.
Baba throws a left and a right that both miss
and Sonni cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Sonni slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Good exchange - Baba coming out on top.
A thudding body kick lands there by Baba!
A jab from Baba misses.
Sonni is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.
Sonni throws a hook to the side of Baba's head but Baba sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Baba thows a leg kick but Sonni checks it
and Sonni counters with a stiff right hand.
Baba misses with a body shot.
Sonni keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
A slow jab from Baba misses its intended target.
Baba throws a hook to the side of Sonni's head but Sonni sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
It seemed like Sonni was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
The fighters circling - Sonni throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Baba tries to score with a low kick but Sonni moves his leg out of the way.
Baba really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Baba throws a hook but Sonni blocks it.
Baba loads up on a big right hand but Sonni slips the punch.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Sonni scores with a leg kick.
Baba tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Sonni was well out of range. Poor timing from Baba.
Baba is looking to land body kicks.
Baba fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Baba throws a body shot but no joy.
Sonni lands with a right, followed by a left to the temple and Baba goes down! The ref sends Sonni to a neutral corner so he can begin the count. 3,4,5,6 and Baba is back to his feet. He seems a little groggy but the referee thinks he's OK to continue, so we're back to the action!
Baba is rocked!
It looks like Ari Baba has been cut.
A combination from Sonni does no damage.
Oh Baba is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Sonni connects with a nice cross there... Baba is looking wobbly and Sonni recognises it - he's rushed in and lands two more brutal shots that send Baba to the canvas, out cold! A brutal finish to the fight - Sonni jumps onto the ropes to celebrate with the crowd!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:29 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Keke Sonni!
Keke Sonni took to the mic in his post fight interview and said 'lets run it back scott columbus dont be scared you got lucky i had a penis fracture that night'.
