PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Tree Fortay (ranked 1404 p4p, 825 weight class) and Twea King (ranked 151 p4p, 95 weight class). Fortay comes to the cage accompanied by The Choice Is Yours. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Tree Fortay!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 6 - 2, fighting out of Las Vegas, Twea King!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Steven Brown and Chris Edwards.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
King slips under a jab.
Fortay misses with an uppercut. King saw that one coming.
King throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
King tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Fortay was well out of range. Poor timing from King.
King keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
King misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Fortay is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by King.
Fortay throws a leg kick but King sees it coming and moves out of range.
Fortay throws a hook to the side of King's head but King sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
King fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Fortay looks to score with a jab to the body but King is just out of range.
Fortay throws out a loose jab but King uses good head movement to avoid it.
Fortay swings and misses with a hook to the body.

King has Fortay up against the cage in a clinch.
Fortay is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.

I was talking to Fortay's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
Fortay scores with a shoulder strike.
Fortay lands a right hand.
Fortay throws a head punch that misses.
A knee to the head by Fortay.
King works on Fortay's body with a couple of short punches.
Fortay misses with the head strike.
Fortay throws a head punch that misses.
Fortay lands a body punch.
Fortay stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.
King blocks an uppercut.
Fortay throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Fortay misses with the head strike.
King tries to pull guard but Fortay forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Fortay with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Fortay just leaning against King, taking a breather.
King lands a body shot in the clinch.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
King lands a hook to the side of the head.

King has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Fortay uses from the top position.

Fortay is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Fortay is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but King has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Fortay is looking to defend but King has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Fortay! King pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Fortay taps out and this one is all over!
