PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Alphonso Estavilio (ranked 4358 p4p, 5313 weight class) and Vincenzo Pedroni (ranked 501 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Vincenzo Pedroni!
The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Alexandre Firmino and Edson Gomes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Estavilio shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Pedroni pinned against the cage. Pedroni gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Pedroni steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Estavilio.

Pedroni fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Estavilio to the ground. Pedroni is now in Estavilio's guard.
Estavilio preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Pedroni is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Pedroni fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Estavilio.

Pedroni has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Estavilio can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Pedroni has his foot on Estavilio's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Estavilio works his way back into a safe position though.
Estavilio won't allow Pedroni to get back to his feet.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Estavilio slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Estavilio postures up.
Connects with an elbow from the bottom, proving to the judges that he's still active off his back.
Pedroni keeping moving, preventing Estavilio from controlling successfully.
Pedroni looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Pedroni wants to get back to his feet but Estavilio passes into half guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Estavilio trying to mount his opponent but Pedroni defends it.
Pedroni has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Estavilio is working away from the top position though.

Estavilio closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Pedroni did well to prevent Estavilio getting side control.

Estavilio gets to his feet - Pedroni follows without any prompting.
Estavilio shoots in for a double leg but Pedroni sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Pedroni tries to close the distance and clinch up but Estavilio swats him away and circles back towards the center.
As Pedroni looks to move away, Estavilio throws a big counter combo but Pedroni just gets out of the way.

Estavilio shoots in and drives through. Pedroni sprawls well.
A head kick from Pedroni lands but Estavilio takes it in his stride.

Pedroni bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Estavilio's guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Pedroni gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Estavilio circles away from the clinch attempt.

Pedroni closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Pedroni lands in his opponent's guard.
Pedroni slips nicely into half guard.
Estavilio is looking for a sweep. Pedroni is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Vincenzo Pedroni showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

Estavilio is trying hard to land a takedown here. Pedroni sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Pedroni throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Horrible takedown attempt by Estavilio or perhaps it was just good defense by Pedroni, which made it look bad.
Pedroni misses with a takedown attempt - Estavilio sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Estavilio throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Pedroni was covering up waiting for the punch and Estavilio finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Pedroni has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Estavilio is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Estavilio is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Pedroni is just riding it out for now. Estavilio eventually gives up the hold.

Vincenzo Pedroni comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Pedroni has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
