The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Shalit gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Shalit takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Shalit wants to control but Kubrick postures up.

The referee asks Kubrick politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Kubrick prefers to stall for the moment though.

Kubrick creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Shalit sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Shalit manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Kubrick pushes Shalit off looking to stand but Shalit dives back in and keeps control.

Kubrick is defending against the submission attempts here by Shalit.
Kubrick is refusing to be controlled, as Shalit sits in half guard.

Shalit is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Shalit wants to work for an arm triangle but Kubrick is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Shalit throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Kubrick stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

It looked like Kubrick was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Shalit lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Shalit cracks a nice hook into Kubrick's ribs.
Elazar Shalit seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Horrible takedown attempt by Kubrick or perhaps it was just good defense by Shalit, which made it look bad.
It seemed like Shalit was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

A nice inside leg kick there by Shalit. That's going to slow Kubrick down.
Shalit's coach down at Undisputed was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Shalit's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Shalit throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Kubrick is looking for a counter combo.
Elazar Shalit is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Shalit wants to land a leg kick but Kubrick is out of range.
Shalit bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Shalit takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

Kubrick steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Shalit.
Kubrick swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Shalit tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Kubrick is able to avoid easily.
Shalit wants to land a leg kick but Kubrick is out of range.
Shalit misses with a low kick as Kubrick jumps back.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Kubrick is working for takedown but Shalit is calmly controlling the position for now.

Kubrick tries to work over Shalit's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Kubrick.

Shalit escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Shalit fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Kubrick is out of range.
Kubrick shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Shalit as he avoids it easily.

Shalit connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.

and Kubrick counters with a straight right hand.
Shalit lands a nice leg kick that just misses Kubrick's sensitive parts.

Kubrick closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Shalit quickly recovers to half guard.
Kubrick seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Shalit does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Shalit has hold of a guillotine but he's not going to be able to crank on it really with only half guard, so it's no trouble for Kubrick. Oh but Shalit has got full guard now! Oh boy! This one could be over very soon! Kubrick goes limp - he's gone! Shalit jumps up and celebrates with the crowd - fantastic submission finish!
