The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kahananui misses with a leg kick

and Lawrence counters with a takedown into side control.
Kahananui is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Kahananui keeps trying to improve his position.

Lawrence tries for a kimura but Kahananui is defending well.

Lawrence is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Kahananui is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Lawrence is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Kahananui knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Lawrence has hold of Kahananui's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Kahananui tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Lawrence cranks the arm and Kahananui screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Kahananui, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
