PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Darrion Moss (ranked 4945 p4p, 1146 weight class) and Kotaro Kikuta (ranked 552 p4p, 151 weight class). Moss comes to the cage accompanied by Can't C Me. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Darrion Moss!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kotaro Kikuta!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Paul Aken and Paulsen Ambrosius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Moss tries for a takedown but Kikuta sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Kikuta turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Moss fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Moss throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Kikuta stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Kikuta wants it to stay on the feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Darrion Moss. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Moss takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

It looks like Darrion Moss has been cut.

Moss closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Moss definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

Moss working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Moss is controlling the pace.
Moss has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Kikuta is trying to stand back up but Moss is controlling him

Kikuta is refusing to be controlled, as Moss sits in half guard.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Moss connects with a nice short shot to Kikuta's temple.
Kikuta looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Kikuta scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Moss manages to mount him!

Kikuta is in a horrible position here. Moss smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Kikuta bucks up and throws Moss to the side - he's got back to his feet. Great escape!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Kikuta throws a left that rocks Moss and follows with a right that sends him tumbling to the canvas! Kikuta dives into side control, looking to finish! Can Moss regain composure!

Kikuta in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
Moss takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Moss is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Moss is controlling Kikuta's position as best he can from this difficult position.

Moss lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Moss seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Kikuta has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Moss off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Kikuta fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Moss has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Moss shoots for a takedown but Kikuta saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

and Moss counters with a single leg into guard. Kikuta didn't expect that.

Moss distracts Kikuta with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Kikuta manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Moss is trying to push Kikuta away but Kikuta has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Moss is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Kikuta to keep the fight standing.
Kikuta lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Moss backwards.
Moss wants to get back to striking at distance but Kikuta won't allow it.
Kikuta scores with a nice hook to the head.
Kikuta lands on the inside with an uppercut.
Moss wants to break the clinch but can't.
Kikuta stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.
Moss is breathing heavily.
Kikuta lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Kikuta lands on the inside with an uppercut.
Kikuta comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.
Kikuta lands a hook to the side of the head.
Kikuta blocks an uppercut.
Moss misses with some punches.
Moss is trying to drag Kikuta to the mat but Kikuta just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Moss wants the takedown. Kikuta is fighting it off but Moss persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Kikuta's guard against the cage.

Kikuta has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Moss off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Kikuta slaps away a takedown attempt from Moss, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Kikuta scores with a jab to the head.
Moss shoots in looking for a takedown. Kikuta tries to sprawl out of it but Moss keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Kikuta manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Moss gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Kikuta.

And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Kotaro Kikuta dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Darrion Moss's cut.
That's time! Moss's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Moss on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Kikuta dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

Kikuta cracks Moss with an uppercut from hell and Moss crumples to the canvas, he's out! Oh no, he's recovered and he's grabbed one of Kikuta's legs and pulled him into guard. The ref thought about stopping it there but he's let it go - good reffing!
Oh Moss is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Kikuta keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Moss's head.

Kikuta in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Kikuta throws a big elbow that misses.
Moss looking for a sweep. Not yet Moss, not yet.

Moss is working an open guard so Kikuta takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Moss seems to have got his legs back now.
Kikuta fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Kikuta cracks Moss with a hook to the temple - Moss is on wobbly legs here! Kikuta swarms him with hook after hook, landing with each one! Moss falls to the canvas face first and the referee dives in to stop the fight! Kikuta wins by TKO!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:35 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Kotaro Kikuta!
Kotaro Kikuta spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
