Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Hong Kong!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, David Night !
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, James Glass and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Excellent takedown into side control there by Night .
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Night staying calm.
Kong is trying to get back to half guard.
Night controlling the position.
Kong is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at Legacy MMA, so we'll see if he gets out of it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kong gets back to half guard.
Kong wants to improve his position but Night is controlling well.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Still in half guard, Night seems content to control.
Kong moves into full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kong wants to sweep but no luck.

Kong had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Night defends it easily.
Kong keeping full guard, as Night tries to pass.
Night slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Night working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Night really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kong. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Night 's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Kong wants to sweep but no luck.
Night postures up and lands a big shot to Kong's brow.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Kong working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Night doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Night manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Kong wants to sweep here but Night controlling him for the moment.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Kong is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Night has his hands clasped together but Kong extends and breaks Night 's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Kong.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:28 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Hong Kong!
After winning the bout, Hong Kong thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
