Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Luan Reis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Santos Son!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Felipe Paraventi and Thiago Cunha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Reis throws a right and a left that both miss.
Son swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Son lands a jab.

Reis fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Son sprawls well initially but Reis persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Son manages to escape and get back to his feet!
Reis misses with a kick to the body.
Son feints the counter takedown.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Reis misses with the combination.
Reis keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Reis tries to bum rush Son with a series of wild strikes but Son uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Reis sets himself, and Son steps forward looking for the clinch! Reis avoids it this time.
A head kick misses from Son.
Reis tries to counter by clinching up but Son breaks away and moves out of range.
Son shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Reis pinned against the cage. Reis gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Reis feints and as Son raises his hands in defense, Reis changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Son wants to stand up but Reis is controlling him.
Reis is looking to advance position but Son has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!


Son jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Reis manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Reis on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Reis tries to get out of the position.

Son tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Reis pushes Son away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Son gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Reis isn't going anywhere.
Reis has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Son forces Reis back against the cage and clinches.

Son wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Reis has him pressed against the cage.

Son on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Reis jumps guard but Son stands there with Reis around his waist. Reis gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Son wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Reis has him pressed against the cage.

Son has Reis pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Son pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Reis tumbling to the mat - Son dives into Reis's guard.

Reis is looking for a triangle here but Son uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Son tries to clinch but Reis moves away

and Reis counters with a shoot takedown. Son fights it but they end up in guard.
Santos Son has got the better of the ground game so far.
Reis slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Son is on top in guard.

Son wants to get up but he can't break Reis's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Reis has his hands on Son's head, controlling the position.
Reis knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Son on the ground.

Son is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Reis is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Reis stops Son from passing to mount.
Son wants to control but Reis is keeping him busy.
Reis can't do much from the bottom here.

Son wants to stand but Reis is controlling his arm.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Son blocks a head kick by Reis.

Reis is looking to pass into half guard but Son pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Son is in guard.

Reis tries to bench press Son off him but Son keeps the position.

Santos Son showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Son wants to clinch up but Reis keeps it at a distance.

Reis scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
You can see the frustration on Son's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Reis thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Reis tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Reis has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Reis breaks from Son's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Reis cracks Son with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Reis sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Reis lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Son hang on?
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Reis connects with a couple of good shots from mount.

Reis postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Son looks a forlorn figure.

Reis swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Son is now in Reis's guard. A big mistake from Reis there, giving up the dominant position!

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Son is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

Luan Reis showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Son has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
