PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between whats that aboot (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nick Reyes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Nick Reyes was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, whats that aboot!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Nick Reyes!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Alec Ball and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
aboot throws a head kick but Reyes moves out of range.
Jeez, both these guys look absolutely knackered already, that's not a good sign!

aboot gets a takedown into half guard.

Reyes actively working from the bottom here.
Reyes wants to improve his position but aboot is controlling well.
aboot seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
aboot wants to lay and pray for a moment but Reyes keeps working.
aboot prevents Reyes from improving his position.
aboot seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Reyes does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
aboot landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
aboot is trying to control the action in half guard but Reyes is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
aboot tries for a takedown but Reyes sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Reyes feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
aboot wants to control but Reyes passes easily into half guard.
aboot wants to control the action here but instead Reyes manages to pass to full mount!
Reyes putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound!
aboot is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

aboot is bucking up trying to escape but Reyes cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
aboot knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Reyes on the ground.
Reyes is in the full mount, landing strikes.
aboot is trying desperately to improve position.
aboot manages to regain half guard. Good work.
aboot makes his way to full guard. A much better position for aboot.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
aboot not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Reyes is working aboot over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
aboot lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Reyes!
Reyes can't escape the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that whats that aboot will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Reyes avoids the head kick by aboot.
A head kick misses from aboot.
aboot tries to clinch there but Reyes circles away.
aboot tries for a takedown but Reyes circles away easily
and Reyes counters with a solid body kick.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
aboot gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Reyes decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in aboot's guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
aboot trying to control the position.

aboot is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Reyes is controlling him.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
aboot keeping full guard, as Reyes tries to pass.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
aboot preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
aboot fails with the takedown

and Reyes counters with a nice double leg into guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for whats that aboot. That's going to take a lot out of him.

aboot is looking to stand up but Reyes isn't so interested in that idea.

Reyes drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Reyes jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Reyes stands up over aboot, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
aboot working a defensive guard but Reyes manages to pass into side control anyway.

aboot tries to improve position but can't.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
aboot tries to clinch up

and Reyes counters with a takedown into side control.
aboot is looking to regain half guard here but Reyes keeps moving and retains side control.
aboot tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Reyes presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nick Reyes showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


aboot with a lazy takedown attempt

and Reyes counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Reyes.
Reyes tries to land a knee to the head but aboot blocks with his arms.
Reyes throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but aboot blocks it with crossed arms.
aboot tries to pull guard but Reyes won't allow it.
Reyes drops down looking for an ankle pick but aboot pulls his leg out and moves away.
aboot shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Reyes decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in aboot's guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for whats that aboot. That's going to take a lot out of him.
aboot is trying to control the position but Reyes postures up.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
aboot is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

That's one minute gone in the round.
aboot throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Reyes stands and throws aboot's legs to the side, diving into side control.
aboot is looking for a sweep.
Reyes scoring with punches from side control.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
aboot is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
An elbow from Reyes crashes against the mat.

Reyes is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, aboot has escaped the position, nice work there.
aboot is trying to control Reyes's posture but Reyes avoids it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Reyes fails to land a wild elbow strike.

Reyes working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Reyes works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
aboot is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
aboot takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.

Reyes tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Reyes lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.

And that's the end of the fight!
Nick Reyes comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Reyes has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
