Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Sam Malone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ross Pearce (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Sam Malone!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Ross Pearce!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Donald Grub and Paul Tew.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Malone shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Malone jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Pearce manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Malone trying to control the action but Pearce is working from the bottom.
Pearce takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Malone is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Pearce is not content to let Malone control the position.

Malone is trying to get an arm triangle but Pearce is defending well.

That's one minute gone in the round.
A lull in the action here as Malone stalls from top position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Pearce gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Malone lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Malone wants to free his trapped foot but Pearce is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Malone working over Pearce with some ground and pound. Pearce looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Malone prevents Pearce from standing back up.
Pearce is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
Malone has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Malone wants to pass to mount but Pearce is defending the position.

Malone is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Malone is breathing heavily.

Pearce wants to get back to full guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Pearce shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.


It looks like Ross Pearce has been cut.
Malone shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Pearce pinned against the cage. Pearce gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Pearce.

Malone darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Pearce wants to control the action here but instead Malone manages to pass to full mount!

Malone looking to finish Pearce with some ground and pound. This is bad for Pearce!
Pearce is squirming around, avoiding Malone's attempts to control the action.
Pearce wants to get back to his feet.
Malone lands a big shot there that rocks Pearce but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Malone lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Pearce hang on?
Pearce's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Pearce wants to get back to his feet.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Pearce wants to control but Malone postures up.
Check out the look on Malone's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!

Malone stands up.
Pearce displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.

Malone feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Malone misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Pearce misses with a series of wild punches.

Pearce keeps the fight on the outside.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Malone.
Malone has a takedown stuffed.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sam Malone. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Pearce fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Pearce throws a right hand that Malone ducks under and follows up with a left that Malone also avoids with ease.

and Malone counters with a nice double leg into side control. Pearce won't be happy with that.
Sam Malone overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Pearce is trying to control Malone's posture but Malone avoids it.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Malone is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Pearce is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Malone tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Malone wants to lay and pray for a moment but Pearce keeps working.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Pearce can do anything to dispel that myth.

Malone tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Malone postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Pearce tries to bench press Malone off him but Malone keeps the position.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Pearce lands a jab-cross combination.
Malone fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Pearce tries to clinch but Malone moves out of range.
Pearce misses with a few strikes there.
Pearce shoots and misses

so Malone counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Malone wants to control from the top but Pearce keeps moving.
Malone working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.

Pearce is trying to control the position but Malone postures up.
Malone postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Pearce wants to get back to his feet but Malone is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Malone is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Malone shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Pearce as he avoids it easily.

Malone wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Pearce has him pressed against the cage.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Pearce wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Malone prevents a takedown attempt there.
Pearce wants to get back to striking at distance but Malone won't allow it.
Pearce tries to break the clinch but Malone is controlling the position.
Malone prevents Pearce from breaking the clinch.
Pearce drops down looking for an ankle pick but Malone pulls his leg out and moves away.
Pearce keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Pearce misses with a double jab.
Pearce misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Malone gets the takedown into side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The cut man is working on Ross Pearce's cut.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Horrible takedown by Malone or perhaps it was just good defense by Pearce which made him look bad.
Left hook, right uppercut from Pearce.
Pearce tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Malone swivels and escapes.

Malone decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Pearce is trying to stand up here but Malone is controlling him well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Malone lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Malone is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Malone stops Pearce from getting back to his feet.
Pearce is looking to improve his position.
Pearce really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Malone. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Pearce wants to get back to his feet.

Malone is looking for a kimura but Pearce is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Malone to get the leverage.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Pearce manages to escape and get back to his feet!
Pearce moves away from the strike by Malone.

Sam Malone is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Pearce lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Malone circles away quickly and effectively.
Malone looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Pearce utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Malone stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Pearce swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Pearce is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Malone is controlling him.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Malone has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Malone.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Malone blocks the strikes from Pearce.

Malone has hold of Pearce's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Pearce seems comfortable defending it but Malone has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Pearce is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Pearce is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Malone couldn't care less - he's delighted!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:55 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Sam Malone!
