Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Gabriel Cote (ranked 4108 p4p, 4678 weight class) and Dan Averescu (ranked 514 p4p, 564 weight class). Gabriel Cote has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Gabriel Cote!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Dan Averescu!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Tiny Johnson and Robert Twigg.

Averescu circles away from the clinch attempt.
Averescu pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Cote appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
We've been hearing reports that Cote has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Cote throws a sloppy head kick and Averescu moves out of range easily.
Cote gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Averescu counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Cote has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Averescu is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Cote misses with a takedown attempt - Averescu sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Cote sets himself, and Averescu steps forward looking for the clinch! Cote avoids it this time.

A solid body kick from Cote.
Gabriel Cote is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Averescu slaps away a takedown attempt from Cote, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Averescu tries to counter with a clinch but Cote shakes him off and moves away.
Cote has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Cote there as he acknowledges the shot.
Averescu fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Cote manages to avoid it.
Averescu throws a lazy right hand but Cote sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Cote went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Averescu might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

Averescu throws an overhand right that lands on Cote's shoulder, as Cote tries to avoid the shot.
Averescu moves into range and connects with a jab.
Cote lands with a slapping head kick.
Averescu has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Dan Averescu showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

and Averescu counters with a huge overhand right that connects right on the temple, sending him crumpling, face first to the floor! This one is all over! What a knockout!

In his post fight interview, Dan Averescu started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
