Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Matthew Smith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, mr White!
The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Jeff Smith and Paul Gruel.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith darts in looking for a takedown but White gets double underhooks and turns Smith into the cage.
White rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Smith moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
White closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Smith's guard.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Smith holds on and takes a little breather.
White advances to half guard.
White tries to pass to full mount but Smith defends it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. White connects with a nice short shot to Smith's temple.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
White stops Smith from getting back to his feet.

White tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no White has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Smith manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Smith shoots in looking for a takedown. White tries to sprawl out of it but Smith keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. White manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

White pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
A looping hook to the body misses from White. Smith does a little dance to reset his feet.

White stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and White wants it to stay on the feet.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Smith clinches up with White and pushes him back against the cage.

Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Smith obliges.
Smith tries to pull guard but White holds him up against the cage and eventually Smith drops back down to his feet.
