The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cheryshev lands an overhand right.
A decent looking cross lands there for Cheryshev.
Cheryshev scores with a nice right hand.
Wiley fails with a takedown attempt.
Wiley takes one to the side of the head.
Cheryshev connects with a right hand. Wiley shakes it off.

Wiley clinches.

Wiley has Cheryshev pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Wiley pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Cheryshev tumbling to the mat - Wiley dives into Cheryshev's guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Wiley controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Cheryshev tries to kick Wiley off but Wiley keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Wiley postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Cheryshev to stand up.
Cheryshev throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.

Wiley throws a body shot but no joy.
Cheryshev takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Cheryshev scores with a nice head shot.
Wiley shoots in for a double leg but Cheryshev sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Cheryshev ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Cheryshev dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Cheryshev lands a glancing blow to the side of Wiley's head.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Cheryshev scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

Wiley tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Cheryshev throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Wiley on the side of the head.

Wiley throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Cheryshev's waist but Cheryshev gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Wiley off to one side.
Wiley is breathing heavily.
Wiley is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Cheryshev is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Wiley had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
Cheryshev scores with a jab. Wiley acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Wiley tries to close the distance and clinch up but Cheryshev swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Andreii Cheryshev seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Cheryshev throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Wiley on the side of the head.
Wiley takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Wiley walks into a straight right hand from Cheryshev.
Cheryshev connects with a nice looking jab.

and Cheryshev counters with a nice uppercut.

Cheryshev paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.

Cheryshev closes the distance and clinches.
Cheryshev has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Andreii Cheryshev dominated that round.
That's time! Wiley's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Wiley misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Cheryshev looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Cheryshev feints a jab promting Wiley to slip. Cheryshev then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Wiley slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Wiley shoots in and drives through. Cheryshev sprawls well.
Cheryshev looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Nice shot lands for Cheryshev.
Wiley walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.


Wiley is rocked!
Mikell Wiley is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Cheryshev scores with a punch to the head.
Oh Wiley is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Wiley looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.

Wiley shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Cheryshev napping and manages to drive through into side control!

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Cheryshev cracks Wiley with an open hand slap.
Wiley looks for a takedown but Cheryshev sprawls well.

Cheryshev has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Wiley shoots in but no luck this time.

Wiley looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.

Wiley shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Cheryshev is trying to defend but Wiley finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Wiley stops Cheryshev from getting back to his feet.
Wiley passes the guard and advances to mount!

Wiley looking for a guillotine from mount but Cheryshev is having none of it.
Cheryshev tries to buck Wiley off but Wiley takes his back!

Cheryshev is trying to defend against the choke here but Wiley has an arm under his chin. This one might not last much longer. Wiley Tightens the hold and Cheryshev taps out furiously! Wiley displays superior BJJ to win the fight.
