The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thift walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
A big right from Thift misses.

Thift shoots in and gets a takedown into Norris's guard.
Norris is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Norris is looking to stand up but Thift isn't so interested in that idea.
Thift is looking to advance position but Norris has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!

Thift tries to lock up and control but Norris gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Thift is working to get back to half guard.
Thift regains half guard.
Norris really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Norris is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Thift has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Norris is working away from the top position though.

Norris decides to stand up.
Norris tries to bum rush Thift with a series of wild strikes but Thift uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Norris throws a leg kick which misses Thift's front leg but catches the back leg as Thift tries to avoid it.

Thift shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Norris as he avoids it easily.
Norris throws a quick counter kick to the body but Thift avoids it.

Norris bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Thift's head.
Thift misses with a looping right.
Thift throws a predictable looking body shot
and Norris counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
A telegraphed right hand from Thift misses the target.
Norris is looking to counter the offense by Thift and move into the clinch.
Norris fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Norris scores with a decent looking hook.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Thift is really struggling to land any decent head shots against his taller opponent.

Chuck Norris has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sydney Thift.
Norris thuds his right hand into Thift's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

Sydney Thift seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Norris counters with a body kick.
Thift fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Norris manages to avoid it.
Norris cracks a nice hook into Thift's ribs.

Thift tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.

Thift walks into a straight right hand from Norris.
Thift gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Norris counters with a single leg into guard. Thift didn't expect that.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Norris stands and steps away. Thift gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Thift shoots in looking for a takedown. Norris tries to sprawl out of it but Thift keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Norris manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
As Thift tries to get set, Norris tries to push him back and clinch up but Thift manages to avoid the attempt.

and Norris counters with a crisp right hand that drops Thift! Norris lets Thift back up to his feet, looking for a finish!

and Norris moves into the clinch.

Norris's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

and Norris counters with a big takedown. That's hurt Thift! Norris smells blood and goes in for the kill. Serveral hard shots later and the ref calls an end to the fight by TKO!
