Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Andre Powell (ranked 7259 p4p, 545 weight class) and Maaka Tuananga (ranked 5484 p4p, 455 weight class). The key to victory for Andre Powell has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 1 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Maaka Tuananga!
The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Lou da Vinci and John Kavanagh.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tuananga fails with the takedown
and Powell counters with a stiff right hand.
Powell stuns Tuananga with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Powell cracks a nice hook into Tuananga's ribs.
Tuananga takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Powell works Tuananga's body with a nice hook.
Powell lands a nice hook to Tuananga's body. Tuananga takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Tuananga tries to clinch but Powell moves away
letting Powell counter with a right hand.

It looks like Maaka Tuananga has been cut.

Tuananga closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the ropes.
A frustrated look appears on Powell's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Powell prevents a takedown attempt there.
Powell wants to break free but Tuananga has control.
Tuananga fails to pull guard.
Andre Powell has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Maaka Tuananga.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Tuananga is trying to drag Powell to the mat but Powell just about manages to keep his footing. He used the ropes to his advantage there.
Tuananga drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Tuananga tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Powell smiles and moves away.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Powell thuds his right hand into Tuananga's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Tuananga shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

Powell definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Tuananga takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Tuananga shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Powell counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Tuananga shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Powell as he avoids it easily.
It looked like Powell wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.

and Powell counters with a nice right hand that sends Tuananga toppling to the canvas! Tuananga scrambles and gets back to his feet - can Powell finish him?!

Tuananga is rocked!
Tuananga throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Powell's waist but Powell gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Tuananga off to one side.
A little feinted left hand from Powell on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Tuananga is still on wobbly legs! Can Powell finish him?
Powell tests Tuananga's chin there with a solid looking shot.

That has opened up Maaka Tuananga's cut even more.
Tuananga throws a front kick that sends Powell stumbling back into the ropes.

And that's the end of the fight!
Andre Powell showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Powell has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
