Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Michael Howardson (ranked 2155 p4p, 270 weight class) and Pedro Gonclaves (ranked 3254 p4p, 381 weight class). Michael Howardson could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Pedro Gonclaves's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Michael Howardson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Pedro Gonclaves!
The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Anthony Taglia and Alyssa Summers.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Howardson works over Gonclaves's head and body with a nice combination.
Howardson feints a jab promting Gonclaves to slip. Howardson then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Gonclaves slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Howardson dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
We've been hearing reports that Howardson has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Howardson clinches.
Gonclaves jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Howardson walks away with a smile on his face. Gonclaves gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Howardson half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Howardson closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Gonclaves tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Howardson just stands there and leans against the cage.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Howardson stays in close to Gonclaves's body and controls the position.

Gonclaves escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Howardson gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Howardson seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Howardson accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Howardson is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Howardson's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Howardson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Gonclaves on the ground.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Gonclaves has his foot on Howardson's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Howardson works his way back into a safe position though.

Gonclaves blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Howardson's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Howardson goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

Gonclaves's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Gonclaves is still on wobbly legs! Can Howardson finish him?
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Howardson creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Howardson lands an uppercut in the clinch that drops Gonclaves to his knees! Howardson keeps firing more shots against his stricken opponent and the referee jumps in to save him!
