Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Henry Gass (ranked 4260 p4p, 0 weight class) and El Matador (ranked 16423 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Henry Gass!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, El Matador!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Robert Twigg and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Matador needs to keep his hands up - Gass had a free shot at his head there.
Matador doesn't succeed with the takedown
letting Gass counter with a right hand.
Matador shoots in and drives through. Gass sprawls well.
Matador fails to land the takedown.
Gass went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Henry Gass has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of El Matador.
Gass fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Matador scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Matador is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Gass is trying to maintain the position but Matador is very close to passing his half guard.

Matador content to control rather than advance.
Matador not landing any meaningful shots this time.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Matador lands a nice short elbow.
Matador content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Matador has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Gass could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Matador fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Gass avoids it really well and circles away.

Matador shoots in looking for a takedown but Gass manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Matador's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Matador shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Gass counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Gass lands a jab.
Nice uppercut there from Gass.

Matador drives through with a takedown into Gass's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Matador stops Gass from standing up.
Matador is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Matador thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Gass knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Matador on the ground.
Gass preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Gass wants to sweep here but Matador controlling him for the moment.

Matador stands up from guard. Let's bang!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Matador doesn't manage to clinch there - Gass circles away.
Matador takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Henry Gass dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Matador looks for a takedown but Gass sprawls well.

Matador tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Gass manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Gass slips a jab from Matador.

and Gass counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

and Matador takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Gass cracks Matador with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

Gass goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Matador shoots and misses
and Matador takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Matador is breathing heavily.
Matador takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Nice cross by Gass.
Nice takedown defense from Gass. No joy for Matador on that attempt.
It looked like Gass was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.

and Gass counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.


Matador is rocked!

Gass lands a big uppercut and Matador crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Matador looks OK. Gass waves Matador back to his feet!
Matador is still on wobbly legs! Can Gass finish him?
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Matador takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Gass cracks Matador with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Matador looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Gass finish him?
Henry Gass is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Gass fires a straight punch through the middle that cracks Matador square on the jaw! Damn, Matador is out cold on his feet and topples face first to the canvas! Wow, I haven't seen a knockout that brutal in a long time!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:13 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Henry Gass!
An out of breath Henry Gass thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
