PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ruslam Kuznetsov (ranked 5372 p4p, 0 weight class) and Micky Dealer (ranked 24846 p4p, 0 weight class). Micky Dealer will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ruslam Kuznetsov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Micky Dealer!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Chris Downing and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kuznetsov scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Dealer scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Kuznetsov manages to mount him!
Kuznetsov lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Dealer hang on?
Kuznetsov tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Dealer throwing hammer fists to the chest of Kuznetsov. What's that going to do exactly?
Dealer swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.

Kuznetsov stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.

Dealer is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Kuznetsov gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Kuznetsov has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Dealer tries to score a power double leg takedown but Kuznetsov sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Dealer somewhat.

Kuznetsov drives through and clinches with Dealer against the cage.

Kuznetsov thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

Kuznetsov is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Dealer must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Kuznetsov escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Dealer gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Dealer wants to get up but he can't break Kuznetsov's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kuznetsov has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Dealer can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Kuznetsov manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.

Dealer tries to circle away but Kuznetsov has him pinned against the cage.

Ruslam Kuznetsov has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Micky Dealer.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Kuznetsov tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Dealer just stands there and leans against the cage.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Kuznetsov looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Dealer lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.


It looks like Ruslam Kuznetsov has been cut.

Kuznetsov shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Dealer's guard.

Kuznetsov wants to free his trapped foot but Dealer is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Dealer wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Kuznetsov has him pressed against the cage.
Kuznetsov digs a right hand into Dealer's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Dealer's gas tank.
Dealer tries to land a knee to the head but Kuznetsov blocks with his arms.
Dealer wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Kuznetsov is trying to trip Dealer. He has hold of a leg but Dealer is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Kuznetsov persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

You get the feeling that Dealer really doesn't like being in this position too much.

Kuznetsov's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Dealer drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Kuznetsov defends it well.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Kuznetsov in particular looking to stall.

Kuznetsov seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Dealer for as long as he can get away with.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Kuznetsov, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
