Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Aslan Akishev (ranked 1966 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ferdinand Marquez (ranked 22579 p4p, 0 weight class). Akishev has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
15 - 11 - 0, fighting out of New York, Aslan Akishev!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
14 - 19 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ferdinand Marquez!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Elvis Blanc and William Peck.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Akishev is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Marquez throws out a loose jab but Akishev uses good head movement to avoid it.
Akishev throws a big counter combination but Marquez scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Akishev wants to clinch up but Marquez keeps it at a distance.
Akishev moves out of range of the strikes.
A right-left combo lands from Marquez.
Akishev fails with an attempt to clinch.
Marquez throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Akishev uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Marquez.
Nice defenses there by Akishev.
Akishev blocks a head kick by Marquez.
A kick lands to the mid section there for Akishev.
Marquez is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Akishev moves out of range as Marquez strikes.
Marquez misses with a straight right.
Akishev shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
The fight stays on the outside here - Akishev looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Akishev tries to clinch there but Marquez circles away.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Akishev wants to clinch up but Marquez keeps it at a distance.
Akishev tries a head kick but it misses.

Marquez waves his right hand out in front of him, looking to distract Akishev. Oh, he's unloaded a beast of a left hand - it worked! He's dropped Akishev to the canvas! Can he finish him!?
Akishev is rocked!
That's one minute gone in the round.
Marquez drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Marquez seems to have locked his on tight now - Akishev screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Marquez, as he picks up the win!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:20 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kneebar). Ferdinand Marquez!
