Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jorge Cassel!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Jorge Romero!
The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Josh West and Colin Fray.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Romero on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Cassel thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Romero if he has to take too many more of those.
Cassel throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Romero looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Romero closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Cassel did well to prevent Romero getting side control.

Romero is looking for a kimura here.
Cassel wants to get back to his feet.
Romero works his way into full mount!

Romero working for a submission but Cassel is keeping him at bay.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Romero working away from the top, dropping strikes.

That's one minute gone in the round.
BOOM! Romero connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Romero misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Cassel's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Romero has hold of Cassel's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Cassel manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Cassel trying desperately to get to his feet.

Romero looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.

Romero working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Cassel turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Romero off and cradles Cassel's limp body as Romero celebrates with his corner.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Jorge Romero!
