The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carvalhais misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Nimoy tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Carvalhais paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Nimoy listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Nimoy fails with an attempt to clinch.
Nimoy lands with a good body shot.
Nimoy connects with a right hand. Carvalhais shakes it off.
Nimoy throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Carvalhais changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Nimoy tries to avoid it but Carvalhais manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Nimoy to the ground. Nimoy escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Nimoy wants to clinch up but Carvalhais keeps it at a distance.
Leonard Nimoy seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Carvalhais misses with a two punch combination.
Carvalhais tries to bum rush Nimoy with a series of wild strikes but Nimoy uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Nimoy throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Carvalhais misses with a few strikes there.
Nimoy wants to counter the offense by Carvalhais and move into the clinch position.

Nimoy pushes Carvalhais up against the cage in a clinch.

Carvalhais is trying to pull guard but Nimoy turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Carvalhais has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Nimoy is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
