Gai comes to the cage accompanied by Alice Cooper No More Mr. Nice Guy. Nando Vasquez has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vasquez misses with a hook. Gai ducked under it nicely.
Vasquez misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Gai misses with a series of wild punches.
Vasquez works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Gai takes one to the chin there.
Vasquez misses with a head kick.
Gai misses with a low kick.

Vasquez keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
A looping hook to the body misses from Gai. Vasquez does a little dance to reset his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Gai lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Vasquez has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Vasquez and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
The fighters circling - Gai throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
A nice inside leg kick there by Vasquez. That's going to slow Gai down.
Gai wants to slow Vasquez down by chopping away at his legs.

Gai is looking to counter punch.
Gai takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

Sloppy strikes from Vasquez. Those never looked like landing.
Donk. Gai catches Vasquez right on the button with a cross.
Gai throws a body kick that misses.
Gai throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Vasquez lands a nice hook to Gai's body. Gai takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Vasquez throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Nomor Gai seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Vasquez closes the distance and clinches.

Gai breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Vasquez fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Gai has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Gai keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

A swing and a miss from Vasquez.
Gai needs to keep his hands up - Vasquez had a free shot at his head there.

Vasquez lets loose with a powerful body kick. Gai will feel that in the morning.

Gai looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Vasquez swings for the body but Gai moves out of range.
Gai misses with a leg kick
and Vasquez connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Gai lands a nice looking kick to the body. Vasquez takes a step back to recover.
Vasquez lands a head kick. Gai smiles back at him and beckons him forward.

and Vasquez counters with a crisp one two that drops Gai! Vasquez thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Gai to his feet! Gai is in big trouble!

Gai is rocked!
Gai gets caught by a big overhand right and goes down! Vasquez gets on top of him and starts throwing some serious punches until the ref intervenes and stops the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:53 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Nando Vasquez!
A relieved looking Nando Vasquez thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
