Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
12 - 12 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jackson Kassongo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Max Palmer!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Reed Andrews and Bruno Lombardi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Palmer throws a right and a left that Kassongo avoids nicely.
Kassongo shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Palmer as he avoids it easily.
A combination from Kassongo does no damage.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Palmer lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Kassongo will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
No joy there for Kassongo, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Kassongo takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Kassongo is rocked!
Palmer paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Oh Kassongo is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Palmer connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Kassongo momentarily.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Palmer lands a monster head kick that reverborates around the arena! The crowd goes wild as Kassongo crumples to the floor! Palmer milks the crowd's applause and if that isn't knockout of the night, I will be very surprised!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:34 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Max Palmer!
