The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Akiyama gets caught napping as Chek dives in and scores a takedown. Akiyama manages to retain guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Chek got a little sloppy there for a moment and Akiyama has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Chek has managed to get both his arms back between Akiyama's legs - danger averted.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Chek trying to control the position from guard on top but Akiyama is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Chek is sitting in close to Akiyama's body. Akiyama has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Chek is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Chek is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Akiyama.

Kazuma Akiyama decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
